► Temperature is an important environmental variable in anaerobic digestion. ► Two functions of the temperature influence in a dynamic model were evaluated. ► Calibration and validation were carried out with experimental data from UASB reactor. ► CTM model can cope with the temperature fluctuations for biogas and organic matter.
