Simultaneous saccharification, filtration and fermentation (SSFF): A novel method for bioethanol production from lignocellulosic biomass

► SSFF is a novel method combining SSF and SHF. ► SSFF use membranes to separate hydrolysis and fermentation. ► Ethanol yield of 85.0% of the theoretical value was obtained in SSFF. ► SSFF allows optimum condition in both hydrolysis and fermentation. ► SSFF allows the fermenting cultures to be reused for several cultivations.
