Simultaneous biodegradation of Ni-citrate complexes and removal of nickel from solutions by Pseudomonas alcaliphila

► We report degradation of Ni-citrate complexes and removal of Ni by P. alcaliphila. ► Alkaline pH enhanced Ni-citrate complexes degradation and Ni removal. ► Addition of Fe3+ caused complete Ni-citrate complexes degradation and Ni removal.
