Evaluation of the effect of ultrasound on organosolv black liquor from olive tree pruning residues

► Ultrasounds as intensification technology within biorefinery processes was investigated. ► Partial degradation of hemicelluloses at short ultrasounds treatments was observed. ► Polysaccharides decomposed into monomers during black liquor sonication. ► No structural changes in the isolated lignin samples were observed.
