Effect of steam explosion and microbial fermentation on cellulose and lignin degradation of corn stover

► Steam explosion could destruct corn stover. ► Aspergillus oryzae fermentation could further increase fiber degradation in exploded stover. ► Enzyme activity in the fermented products was increased. ► Metabolic experiment showed that treated stover could replace grain in broiler diets.
