• Ionic liquid-based porous nanomaterials.
• Pd supported ionic liquid catalyst.
• A reusable porous catalyst system using commercially available material.
• Represents advantages, operational simplicity, no waste, higher yield and with easy workup.
In this paper, highly porous periodic mesoporous organosilica (PMO) with ionic liquid pore walls based on dialkyl imidazolium bridge was synthesized and then, Pd ions were supported onto PMO (Pd@IL-PMO). Subsequently, the synthesized Pd@IL-PMO was successfully incorporated as a heterogeneous catalyst in two types of S-arylation reactions. These catalytic reactions in the presence of Pd@IL-PMO had high product yields. The catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, TEM, SEM, EDX, XRD, TGA and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). Recyclability of the catalyst was confirmed by reusing it for 10 successful runs.
