Forest-based biomass supply in Massachusetts: How much is there and how much is available

► We estimate forest-based biomass supply in Massachusetts from private and state land. ► The estimates take into consideration biophysical and landowner constraints. ► We estimate the sustainable annual level of bioenergy production given this supply. ► Results suggest between 1.4 trillion and 6.2 trillion BTUs/year from biomass supply. ► We suggest forest inventory be tempered by ownership size and owner attitudes.
