Porous zinc(II) frameworks with 5-(isonicotinamido)isophthalate: Syntheses, structures and properties

Two new three-dimensional (3D) coordination polymers [Zn(INAIP)]·2DMF (1) and [Zn(INAIP)]·9H2O (2) have been synthesized by reactions of Zn(NO3)2·6H2O with 5-(isonicotinamido)isophthalic acid (H2INAIP) in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and N,N-diethylformamide (DEF), respectively. The change of solvent leads to the formation of neutral frameworks with different structure, topology as well as different pore size and shape. The X-ray crystallographic structural analysis revealed that complex 1 is an unusual 3D architecture with (3, 6)-connected rutile (rtl) topology containing two-dimensional (2D) (4, 4) networks, while the 3D framework in 2 has (3, 6)-connected (42·6)2(44·62·86·103) topology with 2D kagomé layers. In addition, the stabilities, luminescence and adsorption properties of the complexes were investigated.
