The donation question is present across all medical fields. Medical training as taught in medical schools ignores the aporias of donation which remains defined in “trade” terms. Mauss' legacy seems to be the main reference, which is not effective when related to organ or gamete donation. Numerous philosophers have shown the limitation of such approach. Nevertheless, donation, even in the medical profession, involves admitting the impossible; the incomprehensible; the forgetting; the violence of symbolism; and another kind of temporality.
