Du rapport entre la science et l'éthique
چکیده انگلیسی
In one of the last bulletins of the French Éthique & Cancer board, Pr. Philippe Chaumet questioned the relationship between science and ethics. As to the author, Socrates' optimistic vision of the link between science and truth would have been the one of the Moderns, a vision the horrors of the twelfth century and the current ecological crisis would have prove wrong. But modern science is not Socrates'. Modern science, mathematic and operative, which allowed an extraordinary technical development, involves a scientific reductionism and a technical logic of control. Similarly and in close relationship, ethics changed. Whereas for the ancients, morals' heart was to know one's limits and to be in harmony with one's nature, it is become for the moderns to build a better world thanks to Technique. This is, on the collective plan, the historical ideal named progress. That's why the current crisis of modernity means not Socrates' failure but the modern collective ideal's aporia: the invincible increase of individualism, which can also been explained by the nature of the Moderns' science - conscience's subjectiveness having become the necessary twin of the science and technique's objectiveness. Acknowledging the importance of question asked by Pr. Chaumet, we think we have no choice but to overstep the current technoscientific epistemological frame in order to rediscover an objective and common meaning behind reality and ethics.
