Accès inéquitable aux soins de santé au Canada

Accessibility to health care is one of the fundamental principles of the Canadian health care system. In fact, although Canada is among the most advanced nations in terms of health level, high level does not apply equally to all sectors of Canadian society. In 1999, Health Canada's Health System Division undertook the exploration of the issue of equity and awareness in access to health care services in Canada. Currently, Canada ranks well above most other countries in regard to most of the health indicators of the population. Its universal health insurance system is no longer plagued with funding problems that hinder access of all citizens to health services. The purpose of this document is to present a detailed analysis of troubling inequities that persist in terms of health.
