Donneur décédé en arrêt circulatoire Maastricht 3 : débuts encourageants dans un centre pilote

Organ donation after circulatory determination of death - DCD - knows a new development with the Maastricht 3 protocol - cDCD -, allowed since December 2014 in France. The rules of withholding and withdrawing sustained life treatments are well placed but have yet to win in the formalization and lead to a quality and humanity concern around the end of life. If this is the patient's will and under certain conditions the death can lead donation of organs and tissues. The cDCD offer an opportunity to increase the number of grafts available. Psychological monitoring relatives show no questioning of potential ethical conflict of interest between decision to stop treatment and opportunity to include organ donation in end of life care. The first results are very preliminary encouraging in terms of quality of the grafts and reassuring for the feelings of relatives and teams.
