► Both methods are relevant for the purification of endogenous steroids in urine samples. ► For screening purpose, a one step MISPE protocol was developed followed by GC-MS analysis. ► For confirmatory purpose, SFC-MIP protocol gave sufficient purification before IRMS analysis. ► Developed methods are multiresidue and shorter and cheaper than published procedure. ► Testosterone, estradiol, nandrolone, and boldione abuse in bovine can be controlled.
