Among parasitic infections, scabies is responsible for several outbreaks in France each year, mainly in institutionalized seniors. In these circumstances, constitution of an outbreak management team and determination of the extent of the outbreak and risk factors for spread is mandatory as well as the immediate implementation of infection control practices. Control of this highly contagious parasitic infection consists in the simultaneous treatment of cases and of all exposed individuals, adequate education of all care givers and disinfection of the environment of diseased patients.
