Fixation et cytopathologie

Whatever the nature of cellular material its fixation should be adapted to the aim of the study. Fixation by air-drying or using liquid or spray is recommended for morphology, whereas other types of fixation may be required when distinct cellular components have to be analysed or if the use of cytochemistry, immunocytochemistry or molecular techniques is anticipated. One should, however, always thinking of the potential chemical toxicity when using some of the fixative reagents in order to prevent them properly.
