Infections à Streptococcus pneumoniae et à Staphylococcus aureus : quels sont les déficits immunitaires héréditaires à rechercher ?

Patients with primary immunodeficiencies present severe and/or recurrent infections caused by many pathogens. Over hundred fifty different primary immunodeficiencies have been described at present. However, only some of them predispose to develop invasive pneumococcal infections (meningitis or septic shock): some complement defects, congenital asplenia, B and T lymphocyte deficiencies and defects of innate immunity. Only other primary immunodeficiencies predispose to develop deep abscesses or cellulitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus: congenital neutropenia, genetic defects of phagocytosis, autosomal dominant hyperIgE syndrome and defects in innate immunity. Immunological explorations are required in all patients with invasive infection with Streptococcus pneumoniae and / or severe infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus.
