Accurate approach for determining fresh-water carbonate (H2CO3⁎) alkalinity, using a single H3PO4 titration point

► A new, simple and accurate fresh-water alkalinity analysis method is presented. ► The method is based on a single H3PO4 titration and two pH readings. ► A computerized algorithm was developed and accompanies the manuscript. ► The method can be performed either batch-wise or continuously with simple apparati. ► Method's accuracy is similar to that of conventional methods (e.g. the Gran method).
