Accurate quantification of the mercapturic acids of acrylonitrile and its genotoxic metabolite cyanoethylene-epoxide in human urine by isotope-dilution LC-ESI/MS/MS

► Quantification of mercapturate of acrylonitrile (ACN) and cyanoethylene-epoxide (CEO) in urine. ► The applied method is fully automated, highly precise, accurate and sensitive. ► Higher levels of urinary acrylonitrile metabolites in smokers compared to non-smokers. ► Mean excretion of CEO-mercapturate is 13% compared to the ACN-mercapturate.
