Near infrared dye indocyanine green doped silica nanoparticles for biological imaging

► Indocyanine green dye molecules were ion-paired with a cationic polymer PEI. ► ICG doped silica NPs were synthesized using the Stöber method. ► NIR images of ICG doped silica NPs under a porcine muscle sample were obtained.
