Confirmation of brand identity of a Trappist beer by mid-infrared spectroscopy coupled with multivariate data analysis

► We propose an authentication method for (Rochefort 8°) beers. ► FT-IR spectra of a set of 267 beers were measured. ► Extensive chemometric analysis of the spectra allowed for identification of Rochefort 8° beers. ► Correct prediction abilities well above 90% were obtained. ► The method is a cheap and competitive alternative to previously published work.
