Fast microextraction of phthalate acid esters from beverage, environmental water and perfume samples by magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes

► A simple method for the preparation of magnetic CNTs was described. ► No chemical modification to CNTs or magnetite was needed in the preparation step. ► Magnetic CNTs were used as an MSPE adsorbent for the extraction of phthalates. ► A method for the determination of PAEs in complicated matrix was established. ► The established MSPE-GC/MS method was highly sensitive and cost-effective.
