This paper presents experimental measurements of selected properties of pipe conveyor belts, which are dynamically damaged. Apart from results of experimental measurements, new experimental analysis of inner structure of conveyor belt by computer tomography is used.The aim of the paper is to show the change of physical and mechanical properties of dynamically damaged conveyor belts and analyze their inner structure–conveyor belt carcass by non-destructive method of analysis.The next goal of the paper is to clarify if dynamic wear of the conveyor belt damages the inner structure and verify the suitability of non-traditional but promising computer tomography method for conveyor belt analysis.
► Damaged conveyor belt has different values of modulus of elasticity.
► Elastic elongation has not changed for dynamically damaged conveyor belt.
► Damaged conveyor belt has insufficient contact with idlers in the idler housing.
► Analysis of 1333 obtained cross sections from sample of conveyor belt.
► Inner structure of conveyor belt is not visibly damaged in individual directions.
