Ultrasonic or accelerated solvent extraction followed by U-HPLC-high mass accuracy MS for screening of pharmaceuticals and fungicides in soil and plant samples

► We developed a method for scanning of forty-two pharmaceuticals and fungicides in soil and plant material samples using full-scan-mass spectrometry. ► For extraction purposes ultrasonic assisted and accelerated solvent extraction were compared. ► An ASE process has been validated. ► Oxytetracycline residues were detected and confirmed in the soil samples collected throughout the Netherlands.
