Rapid screening of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in waters by directly suspended droplet microextraction-microvolume fluorospectrometry

► PAHs in waters can be rapidly screened using a miniaturized analytical approach. ► Liquid-phase microextraction is coupled with a portable micro-fluorospectrometer. ► Elevated preconcentration factors are obtained with minimum consumption of solvents. ► A cut-off value of 0.6 μg L−1 of benzo[a]pyrene allowed a reliable binary response.
