Cobalt-chrome activation of the nickel electrodes for the HER in alkaline water electrolysis - Part II

► Co-Cr obtained by in situ electrodeposition process was investigated as electrode material for the HER in alkaline solution. ► The Tafel slopes are ∼120 mV, exchange current densities are in the range of 10−3 mA cm−2 up to 10−2 mA cm−2. ► Activation energy obtained from Arrhenius plot is ∼20 kJ mol−1. ► Rate determinating step for the HER is the proton discharge electrosorption (Volmer reaction).
