Effect of annealing on the structure and electrochemical properties of La1.8Ti0.2MgNi8.9Al0.1 hydrogen storage alloy

► As-cast and annealed La1.8Ti0.2MgNi8.9Al0.1 alloys are prepared. ► After annealing, the composition becomes homogenous. ► Suitable annealing markedly improves cycle life and high rate dischargeability. ► The most appropriate annealing temperature for the alloy studied is 900 °C.
