► Many articles and reviews were written on the cellular interactions of Pt drugs attempting to correlate their cytotoxic properties of the compounds with their cellular chemistry. ► It is not our intent to provide a comprehensive summary of all the work described in the literature but to raise questions and cast doubts about selected topics regarding the approaches taken towards trying to elucidate the event that happens in cancer cells that were exposed to platinum complexes.
