Metal-containing conjugated polymers as fluorescent chemosensors in the detection of toxicants

► Conjugated fluorescent polymers can be used as sensors for transition metal ions in solution. ► Metallopolymers can be prepared which provide for better selectivity in chemosensor response. ► Both “turn-on” and “turn-off” fluorescent chemosensors can be prepared by these methods.
