Theranostic liposomes as a bimodal carrier for magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent and photosensitizer

Conventional and sterically stabilized liposomes were designed to deliver a photosensitizer (zinc phthalocyanine, ZnPc) and a contrast agent (lipid derivative of gadolinium(III) chelate). The theranostic vesicles are studied to be applied in future perspective for magnetic resonance imaging and photodynamic therapy of cancer.224
