Tyrosine nitration in peptides by peroxynitrite generated in situ in a light-controlled platform: Effects of pH and thiols

Highly efficient nitration of tyrosine in model peptides has been achieved under varied pH, CO2 and thiol concentrations within the wells of a peroxynitrite-generating platform controlled by light. Placement of a neighboring cysteine residue strongly attenuates the effects of peroxynitrite on tyrosine.165
