Rare-earth transition-metal gallium chalcogenides RE3MGaCh7 (M=Fe, Co, Ni; Ch=S, Se)

The series of chalcogenides RE3MGaS7, which form for a wide range of rare-earth and transition metals (M=Fe, Co, Ni), adopt highly anisotropic structures containing chains of M-centred octahedra and stacks of Ga-centred tetrahedra.
