Structural peculiarities and Raman spectra of TeO2/WO3-based glasses: A fresh look at the problem

► Structural studies of TeO2-WO3 glasses are critically considered. ► The oxide glass formation is analyzed from Raman spectra and thermodynamic principles. ► Separation into two phases, TeO2 and Te(WO4)2, is intrinsic in such glasses. ► TiO2 or Nb2O5 addition to TeO2-WO3 glasses leads to produce solid solutions. ► Nd2O3 addition to TeO2-WO3 glasses leads to produce a tellurite compound.
