Electrospun poly(lactic acid)/chitosan core-shell structure nanofibers from homogeneous solution

► Homogenous solution was prepared by mixing hydrophilic polymer and hydrophobic polyester. ► Core-shell structure nanofibers were prepared by single nozzle electrospinning. ► A simple method was used to remove SDS which modified CS on the surface of nanofibers, then CS in shell layer was revealed. ► Cell culture and adhesion showed good biocompatibility of these nanofibrous membranes.
