Enzymatic polymerization to an alternating N-l-cysteinyl chitin derivative: a novel class of multivalent glycopeptidomimetics

- Alternating N-l-cysteinyl chitin was prepared as a multivalent glycopeptidomimetic.
- N′-l-Thioprolinyl-chitobiose oxazoline was synthesized as the substrate monomer.
- Its chitinase-catalyzed polymerization gave alternating N-l-thioprolinyl chitin.
- Conversion of the l-thioproline to the l-cysteine occurred almost quantitatively.
