Synthesis of a zinc(II) complex with hexadentate N4S2 donor thioether ligand: X-ray structure, DNA binding study and DFT computation

A new zinc(II) complex, [Zn(L)](ClO4) with azo-thioether containing N4S2 donor hexadentate ligand (HL) has been synthesized and characterized. The interaction of the complex with CT DNA has been investigated by absorption and emission spectroscopy. Intrinsic binding constant has been calculated to be 6.6 × 104 M−1. Competitive binding titration with ethedium bromide (EB) by fluorescence titration method has been carried out and the Stern-Volmer dynamic quenching constant, Ksv found to be 2.6 × 104 M−1.171
