Novel enaminones as non-cytotoxic compounds with mild antibacterial activity: Synthesis and structure-activity correlations

The non-symmetric enaminones derived from pentane-2,4-dione or 1-phenylbutane-1,3-dione and 4- or 5-methylamino phenol, respectively, crystallize as keto-amine tautomers and in all structures the presence of strong NH⋯O intramolecular hydrogen bonds is observed. All enaminones were found to be noncytotoxic and showed mild antibacterial activity on M. catarrhalis.269
