Influence of annealing temperature on the structure and properties of the nanograined NiAl intermetallic coatings produced by using mechanical alloying

► MA process could be used for the deposition of NiAl coating at ambient atmosphere. ► Ball collisions cold welded powder particles to a substrate and formed coating ► The MA process was found to be capable of producing nanostructured coatings. ► After annealing treatment at 600 °C, only NiAl peaks are observed in XRD pattern. ► Annealing treatment improved the coating wear resistance and microhardness.
