Relationship between the colour of ochre from Roussillon and the content of iron-bearing minerals

► Ochre colour was quantitatively described with the CIE-L*a*b* colour coefficients. ► a* and b* were found to be correlated with the amount of Fe-bearing minerals, and with L*. ► No relationship between the size of grains and the colour was found.
