Kinetics of absorption of carbon dioxide in aqueous amine and carbonate solutions with carbonic anhydrase

► Carbonic anhydrase increases the kinetics of CO2 absorption in MDEA and carbonate. ► An empirical equation to describe the observed kinetics is presented. ► Use of CA leads to reduction in absorber column heights for MDEA and carbonate. ► Immobilisation of CA on particles resulted in a smaller increase of the kinetics. ► Immobilisation of CA to fixed packing is determined to be ineffective.
