Case study of an ice void structure in polar mesospheric clouds

► Nearly-circular ice-free PMC structures (“ice voids”) are documented from AIM-CIPS data. ► NOGAPS-ALPHA analysis of a case study ice void indicates warmer temperatures at its location. ► Warmer temperatures could be due to transport of warm air from low latitudes. ► Warmer temperatures could also be related to increased tidal activity.
