Morphology of polar mesospheric clouds as seen from space

► The CIPS instrument provide a unique space-based perspective of PMC structures. ► We present the first classification of PMC structures as seen from space. ► Main types of structures observed are Veils, Bands, and Whirls. ► Other identified structures are termed 'ice voids', 'ice rings' and PMC 'fronts'. ► These structures are similar to those seen in airglow images and tropospheric clouds.
