Inter-hemispheric coupling during northern polar summer periods of 2002-2010 using TIMED/SABER measurements

► Abnormally warm summer mesopause region observed by MaCWAVE Rocket Program in 2002. ► This also seen by the TIMED/SABER instrument in 2002, 2007 and 2010. ► The 2002 event was preceded by stratospheric warming (SW) in the southern hemisphere. ► SABER data shows that the heating in the north occurred within 1 week of the SW. ► The cycle of the abnormal warmings was about 31 months.
