Kinetic mechanism of DNA translocation by the RSC molecular motor

► We determine microscopic rate constants for processive RSCt translocation. ► We report values for ATP coupling stoichiometries. ► RSCt is an inefficient motor, using several ATP per forward step. ► RSCt is capable of disrupting the streptavidin-biotin linkage.
