Regulation of TNFα converting enzyme activity in visceral adipose tissue of obese mice

► In obese mice, TACE activity increases only in visceral adipose tissue (VAT). ► Caloric restriction (CR) reduces TACE expression and activity in VAT of KK-Ay mice. ► CR reduces phosphorylation of JNK and p38MAPK, but not of ERK, in VAT of KK-Ay mice. ► CR reduces TNFα expression and shedding of pro-TNFα in VAT of KK-Ay mice. ► Exogenously administered TNFα activates TACE, JNK and p38MAPK in VAT of KK-Ay mice.
