Differential effects of gemfibrozil and fenofibrate on reverse cholesterol transport from macrophages to feces in vivo

► Fenofibrate increases plasma HDLc and human (h) apoA-I in hapoA-I transgenic mice. ► Fenofibrate induces the generation of larger HDL particles and preβ-HDL formation. ► Fenofibrate promotes reverse cholesterol transport from macrophages to feces in vivo. ► Our data would be consistent with a protective clinical effect of fenofibrate.
