Modification and characterization of cellulosic cotton fibers for efficient immobilization of urease

► Cotton fibers were grafted with polyacrylonitril. ► The grafted cyano groups were converted into hydrazidine groups using hydrazine. ► The fibers were activated using glutaraldehyde for urease immobilization. ► The activities of free and immobilized urease were investigated.
