The newly identified anorexigenic adipokine nesfatin-1 in hemodialysis patients: Are there associations with food intake, body composition and inflammation?

►We correlate nesfatin-1 levels with nutritional status and body composition in HD. ►Patients had similar plasma nesfatin-1 levels when compared to healthy subjects. ►There was a positive correlation between nesfatin-1 levels and BMI, %BF and leptin. ►There was a negative correlation between nesfatin-1 levels and protein intake. ►Plasma nesfatin-1 levels are associated with appetite and nutritional status.
