Rapid and sensitive detection of cytokines using functionalized gold nanoparticle-based immuno-PCR, comparison with immuno-PCR and ELISA

► We describe a new procedure, Nano-iPCR, for detection of cytokines using functionalized gold nanoparticle-based immuno-PCR. ► In this system, DNA template and target antigen-specific antibody are conjugated through gold nanoparticles. ► Nano-iPCR is superior in sensitivity and detection range than ELISA and is easier to perform than iPCR and ELISA. ► Nano-iPCR may be preferable used for rapid detection of low concentrations of cytokines in complex biological fluids.
