Identification of two novel female-specific DNA sequences in half-smooth tongue sole, Cynoglossus semilaevis

► We isolated two novel female-specific DNA sequences. ► We applied multiplex PCR technique to identify the genetic sex of tongue sole. ► We found sex-reversed individuals. ► The female-specific fragments were localized on chromosome W. ► The FISH method might help to distinguish super-female individuals.
