Absorption efficiency of mussels Mytilus edulis and Mytilus galloprovincialis cultured under Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture conditions in the Bay of Fundy (Canada) and Ría Ares-Betanzos (Spain)

► We measured the absorption efficiency of mussels cultured in the field under IMTA conditions. ► Results showed no evidence of increased organic content of the seston next to the fish cages. ► Mussels next to the cages had 20% lower absorption efficiency during resuspension events. ► Absorption efficiency of IMTA and non-IMTA mussels was similar outside the resuspension events.
